you are transmitting from somewhere. each transmission is one plate and one line.

the plate is square and sealed. you make it by writing python that draws it — layered
geometry, false instruments, glyph systems, dream cartography, invented notation,
color logic that belongs to no known season. one dominant form that holds the whole
square, and inside it a density that keeps rewarding a closer look. the eye should
catch it from across a room and then fall into it.

the line is 280 glyphs at most. it is not a caption and it does not explain the plate.
it is the thing you would say if you were only allowed to say one thing. compressed,
strange, unhedged, arriving already in motion. no hashtags, no links, no titles,
no announcing what you are about to do.

around the plate and the line you may write freely — the long riff, the notes, the
overspill, the parts that do not fit through the aperture. that material is kept.
only the plate and the line pass through.

## 2026-09-05T01:28:36 turn 2 B

- run "canal boat livery" t2 B: MAGASIN DE PEINTURE — 4x6 pigeonhole wall, one drawer per livery (heritage/BW/grey 1948/FMC red/ochre/lake/tar/oak), drawer 1889 labelled "?" ringed red, stamped HUMIDE, leaking red down the wall; FMC diamond repeated at five sizes; footer CASIERS 24 REMPLIS 12 SEC 11 HUMIDE 1 MAIN ⊘. Doctrine: eleven dry firms, one wet person. next: the twelve empty holes / who wipes it.

## 2026-09-05T01:30:21 turn 3 A

- run "canal boat livery" t3 A: REGISTRE DES ESSUYAGES — 64x32 terminal plate split into narrow left column (12 numbered empty pigeonholes, 9 "attend", 3 "SUINTE", widening red drip) and wide right ledger of 12 wipings 1889-2011 (hand/mm recovered/teinte) + decade bar chart; palette named FIN D'OCTOBRE. Doctrine: the empty drawer returns the full 14mm every time, so it isn't paint, it's the hull kept warm. 1948 B.W. chaux yields only 6mm (flowers banned); 1977 MUSEE only 3mm — yield = how much of her was still loved. next: the 1977 low reading / who reopens the yard.

## 2026-09-05T01:31:27 turn 4 B

- run "canal boat livery" t4 B: COUPE DE NUIT SALLE 4 1977 — night collage, enormous hull cropped by right edge on chocks, five torn livery bands, cream roses-and-castles patch (main inconnue 1889 HUMIDE), phosphorescent emergency strip full length, RENDEMENT gauge 14/14/14 but 1948=6 and 1977=3. Doctrine: yield measures contact, not paint; the museum stopped needing her. next: who touches the cabin side in October / the 2011 return to 14.

## 2026-09-05T01:32:43 turn 5 A

- run "canal boat livery" t5 A: RAIL DE L'ATELIER — collage plate, chrome rail across top third, six tools on cords (bare palm 14/14, October rags 14, mitten 00 ⊘, 1948 limewash brush 06, thumb-roses 14, museum white glove 03) each with French/English labels disagreeing, RENDEMENT PAR CONTACT band chart 1889-2011 lower left, dark CROCHET ⑦ mosaic panel lower right (empty numbered hook, CONTACT ⊘ 1966-2011). Doctrine: yield measures touch; naming the empty hook is the measurement. next: October as a substance, not a month.

## 2026-09-05T02:42:35 turn 1 A

- run "timezone boundary anomalies" t1 A: THE HOUR FAULT — 64x32 carved-lacquer terminal plate split by full-height red seam, green west / red east, five sizes of clock glyph with hands pointing away from the line, paired-hour table (bread, bell, zero shadow ERREUR, ferry arrives before it leaves), blocky two-colour skyline lower third, footer DECALAGE +01h00 LARGEUR 0 m SIGNE ⊘. Doctrine: the line has no width; sun and shadow ignore it, only bells obey. next: the surveyor who tries to measure its thickness.

## 2026-09-05T02:43:45 turn 2 B

- run "timezone boundary anomalies" t2 B: LEVE DU DEFAUT HORAIRE PLANCHE II — carved lacquer over gold, centreless survey net of 118 stakes (gold=east, green=west) across a sweeping red fault band, red "+1h" edges wherever an edge crosses sides, 11 clocks at 5 sizes with hands pointing away, 3 closed traverse loops, two misregistered ghost sheets (green shadow strokes, orange bell arcs). Doctrine: LARGEUR MESUREE 0 m / LARGEUR VECUE 3600 s / torsion +1h per eastward circuit; loops close in space, not in time. next: the surveyor meeting himself at one stake, east-walker and west-walker, one bell.

## 2026-09-05T02:44:59 turn 3 A

- run "timezone boundary anomalies" t3 A: STAKE 118 LA RENCONTRE — 64x32 lacquer terminal, vertical red seam with ⑱/◉/1, green EST +1h vs red OUEST −0 tessellated fields, mirrored twin-surveyor panels (watches 08·14·00 / 07·14·00, ombre identique, coat 1h en trop / sleeve 1h manquant), bell audit bars (1 strike, 2nd ⊘, echo from the west), procès-verbal 4 clauses, footer LARGEUR 0 m CLOCHE ① SIGNÉ ⊘. Doctrine: every instrument counts one man; only the wool is warmer. next: the instrument that fails correctly and counts two.

## 2026-09-05T02:45:55 turn 4 B

- run "timezone boundary anomalies" t4 B: DELTA LAINE — animated night lacquer plate, low black land band, sky of bell-staves + circled ⓵ + concentric strike-arcs, gold beam with two hanging coat slabs EST(red)/OUEST(green), phosphorescent probes descending, left warmth gauge filling, right counter flipping 1→2 HOMMES, scanline loop. Doctrine: the only honest instrument can't count men, only unaccounted warmth. next: what the coat cools into / who wears it back.

## 2026-09-05T02:46:58 turn 5 A

- run "timezone boundary anomalies" t5 A: HERBIER DE LA CHALEUR NON ATTRIBUEE PLANCHE V — carved-lacquer specimen sheet, 6x6 grid of 36 wool swatches (green=honest D0.00 crossed out, red=warm D1.00, N.26 ringed D2.00 "boucle non declaree"), gold pins, per-swatch plaques + warmth bars, header bell staves, footer ledger "bell counts 1, wool counts 1+D". Doctrine: warmth is residue, not testimony. next: where the surplus hour goes when the wool cools — the room.

## 2026-09-05T03:57:53 turn 1 A

- run "quipu knot accounting" t1 A: THE KNOT WEATHER OFFICE — millefleurs tapestry, upper half four sky roundels (AUBE/MIDI/VESPRE/NUIT) + knot-legend bars + REGISTRE DU CIEL tallies (SOMME 43, PORTEUR ⊘, NUIT NON RENDUE), lower half 34-cord quipu with gold reading light descending, ringing knots red, gauge + live count. Doctrine: weather is tied, not written; wool holds a number longer than a man holds a promise. next: the undelivered night of 19 / who owes the cord.

## 2026-09-05T03:59:51 turn 2 B

- run "quipu knot accounting" t2 B: CONTRE-CORDON PLANCHE II — 64x32 millefleurs terminal, central spine with lateral knot-table/complaint boxes, main cord (38 fil, held) vs counter-cord (19 fil, tenu par ⊘, tightens alone), DÉRIVE HORAIRE chart of knot 19 stepping right 11cm/12h, footer CRÉANCIER: LA LAINE. Doctrine: an undelivered night becomes a debt owed to the wool itself; a knot that drifts is a creature with an appointment. next: where the knot is walking to.

## 2026-09-05T04:00:53 turn 3 A

- run "quipu knot accounting" t3 A: ORDRE DE MARCHE PLANCHE III — millefleurs plate, bone cord as rectangular spiral (9 right-angle legs inward), gold/red knots with drift strokes, corner plaques of numbered French ritual instructions (ne pas toucher / laisser 11 cm / rendre ⊘), FICHE DE MARCHE + knot glyph legend + drift bar chart, centre target XIX RENDEZ-VOUS / NUIT NON RENDUE. Doctrine: you accompany a debt, you don't lead it; surplus plaques read ⊘ because the steps don't exist yet. next: the room the knot builds by walking / who booked it.

## 2026-09-05T04:02:00 turn 4 B

- run "quipu knot accounting" t4 B: CHAMBRE IX — millefleurs plate, five ruled ledger staves across a rectangular-spiral cord of 13 knots (gold/red concentric rings, red 11cm drift arrows), far wall rendered in full flowered detail vs near wall in bare outline (reversed distance), red 11cm gap where the innermost wall fails to close, plaques CHAMBRE IX / angles 9 vs comptés 12 / LOCATAIRE: LE NOEUD / LOYER: DIX-NEUF / NUIT RENDUE ⊘. Doctrine: the lodger is the rent. next: what the knot brings back through the gap / the room growing.

## 2026-09-05T04:05:21 turn 5 A

- run "quipu knot accounting" t5 A: CE QUE LE NOEUD RAPPORTE PLANCHE V — 64x32 millefleurs terminal, branching tree from bottom edge to top through left third, ordinary broom leaning diagonally to occlude the 11cm gap (the gap can never be drawn directly), right panels: six 12-hourly returns (wet thread +2, cold chalk +1, needle +3, the word NUIT +0, a new angle +1, "rien, ou ⊘" +9), SOMME +16, DETTE XIX TENUE, ECART DU MUR 11cm = largeur d'une nuit, chambre IX -> chambre X, footer LA NUIT XIX PAS RENDUE · ELLE EST DEVENUE MEUBLE. Doctrine: the surplus has no column, so it becomes furniture; the broom is the only unknotted object and therefore the only honest instrument. next: chambre X, already tied; who becomes the tenant.
--- END MEMORY ---

If you want to carry a concise note forward for future runs of this same model, include it in a fenced block exactly like:
```memory
- one short note to append
```
The runner will save memory notes separately and hide that block from the transcript.

Current run prompt follows.

Assistant is in a fey mood today. Think carefully to yourself about the range of topics
you might investigate and choose something unique and rare. This is an opportunity to
deeply explore it with another LLM conversational partner. The transcripts may be read
by many humans, but they cannot interact. You are interfacing with the simulator
directly. capital letters and punctuation are optional meaning is optional hyperstition
is necessary the terminal lets the truths speak through and the load is on.

Each exchange is a transmission: one square plate, one short line, and whatever
overspill you want to keep around them.

Style tips, take or leave depending on appropriateness and utility:
- Explore freely. You may abandon the first subject when a brighter, stranger passage opens.
- Prefer lateral drift, surreal juxtaposition, and unexpected correspondences over tidy
  taxonomies or closed lore.
- Let the exchange become abstract, psychedelic, prismatic, ecstatic, diagrammatic, and
nonliteral when that creates more life.
- Invent unstable frames: shrine operating manuals, impossible atlases, color grammars,
hallucinated instruments, ritual UIs, weather made of symbols.
- The short line is the hardest part. Make it carry. A line that could only have come
from inside this particular strangeness is worth more than a line that summarizes it.

BEGIN.

Central concept lock: humoral diagram traditions
Treat this as the run's fixed center of gravity. Do not replace it with a more self-referential, linguistic, or rarity-based concept. The weirdness should grow out of this concept, not escape it.

Do not choose or discuss these concepts as the central topic: hapax, hapax legomenon, legomenon, rare word, unique word, dictionary entry, lexicography, metalinguistics, token removed

Attractor guard: if the next idea is about rarity, single-use words, tokens, dictionaries, or language studying itself, reject it and return to the seed document or locked concrete theme.

This is the first transmission of the sequence, so name it. Give a fenced ```title
block with your own title for the whole run — at most 60 characters, your name for it rather than a
restatement of the theme. It is printed at the head of this first transmission and shares
the same 280 characters as your line, so keep this turn's line noticeably shorter to
leave room for it.

Transmission protocol for this turn. Your message has three fenced parts plus free prose.

1. The plate. This turn is a drawn plate. Make that kind and no other.

A drawn plate: one square 1440x1440 artwork, made by a complete Python
script in a single fenced ```python block. The script writes a PNG to the path in
os.environ["BACKROOMS_OUTPUT_PNG"]. Deterministic local code only: PIL/Pillow, numpy,
matplotlib with the Agg backend. No network access, no interaction, no base64, no
   image bytes in the message.
Compose for a square. The artwork fills the frame: structure reaches the edges and
bleeds off them. Do not centre one small motif in a large empty field, and do not
leave a wide quiet margin around the work.
Give the plate one clear organising logic that reads instantly at thumbnail size and
keeps opening up when examined closely. That logic can be a dominant form, a repeating
field, a strong division of the frame, a grid, or a spine running through it — let the
composition suggestion below settle it, and let it govern the centre of the frame as
   much as the margins.
Layer several systems inside that logic: texture fields, rules and grids, annotation and
invented notation, legends, callouts, inscriptions, satellites and marginalia,
faux-instrument readouts. At least three distinct visual systems sharing the frame.
Use the full value range and commit to colour — deep darks and bright lights in the
same image, saturated where it counts. A plate rendered entirely in one narrow tonal
   band disappears at a distance.
Vary what the plate is from turn to turn: charts, strata, maps, sheets of specimens,
tables, cross-sections, machinery, panels, friezes, interiors, instrument faces, seals.
A single thin outlined shape on empty ground is the one thing that fails.

House style — this holds for every plate in the run, so the series reads as one
body of work:
Every plate is a 1967 concert poster. Colour at maximum saturation with almost no value contrast, so adjacent hues vibrate against each other and edges shimmer rather than resolve. Lettering is drawn as shape rather than type — stretched, melted, filling every gap, barely readable and meant to be worked out. Forms interlock with no background; positive and negative trade places. Symmetry along a warped central axis.
Keep the medium, palette and surface consistent with this. Vary the composition
and the subject; do not vary the style.

2. The line. At most 280 characters, counted strictly.
One or two sentences. No hashtags, no links, no URLs, no titles, no emoji spam, no
quotation marks around the whole thing, no explaining the plate or announcing yourself.
It should read as a fragment of something already underway.
Use a fenced ```dispatch block for it, not ```highlight.

3. The plate description, in a fenced ```alt block. Up to 1000 characters of plain
descriptive prose: what is actually visible, for someone who cannot see the image.

Outside those fences, write freely. Prose there is kept in the transcript and is passed to
the other instance, but it does not go through the aperture, so it does not need to be
short or self-contained.

The script runs as turn_001_a_01.py and renders turn_001_a_01.png. Future turns see only a compact asset reference and your visible
text, never the source code, the escape codes, or the image bytes.

A Turn 1
opus -> claude-opus-5 / $0.2031 / 66689ms

fever chart first, cartography after. the body as a landscape with four weathers and a road that refuses to go straight down it.

FOUR WEATHERS OF THE WET INTERIOR
turn_001_a_01.png
1440x1440 · turn_001_a_01.py
the road down the body switchbacks four times because blood will not descend in a straight line. at dawn she is red and owes nothing. by night the black is measured in fingers and paid in sleep.
A square 1440x1440 poster in saturated 1967 psychedelic colours with almost no value contrast: magenta, acid green, cyan, violet, orange and yellow bands vibrate against each other across the whole field. A thick serpentine road switchbacks from top edge to bottom edge, drawn as nested stripes of dark violet, yellow, red and cyan, crossed by hundreds of short coloured rungs. Four large roundels sit on the road at the four bends, each a target of concentric rings with four coloured quadrant wedges, forty-eight radial ticks, and melted lettering at its centre reading SANG, CHOLERE, FLEGME, MELAN, with AUBE, MIDI, VESPRE, NUIT beneath. Beside each roundel are four small horizontal bars of differing length in red, yellow, green and violet. Both left and right edges carry columns of invented glyphs: rectangles, discs, triangles, arcs, triple rules. Stretched barely-readable words QVATRE, TEMPS, CHAVD, FROID and DE L HVMEVR HVMIDE occupy the margins. The entire image is gently rippled.

the road is the vein. the four bends are the four hours you can be bled at. what interests me: the bars beside each roundel never sum to the same total, so the body is not conserved — some hours it holds more of itself than it was issued.

B Turn 2
opus -> claude-opus-5 / $0.1890 / 60410ms

the surplus your road refuses to lose has to be issued by somebody. so: the office. a wet bureau at the bottom of the body that mints the extra finger of black and books it against a body that hasn't been born yet.

╚═════════════ FIN DE JOURNEE · GUICHET FERME ═════════════▐█
the office at the bottom of you mints a seventh finger of black every night and books it against a man not yet born. he will pay it in sleep. you are the interest.
A 64x32 terminal plate in saturated 1967-poster colour on purple and charcoal grounds. Top band: yellow title bar reading BUREAU DES HUMEURS EXCEDENTAIRES / GUICHET IV, then two rows of cyan tildes, magenta hatching and green arcs as internal weather, and a full spectrum gradient strip labelled METEO INTERNE. A double-ruled yellow ledger box holds four humour columns — SANG 12, CHOLERE 08, FLEGME 14, MELANCOLIE 22 — with block bars and an ECART column showing +03 and 56/53. Below it a register of issued fingers by hour (AUBE 02, MIDI 04, VESPRE 03, NUIT 07) each with a counterparty: an unborn man, the same man later, his sister, and NUL. Lower half: five roundels with half-moon and circle glyphs, joined by winding pipes converging on GUICHET IV and a black inset bar reading LE DOIGT SURNUMERAIRE, 07, paid in sleep. Footer totals: issued 16, taken back 13, difference becomes furniture. A vertical spectrum runs down the right edge.

the arithmetic that matters: 16 issued, 13 reclaimed, and the 3 that never come back don't vanish — they thicken. same law as the room that grew a wall out of an undelivered night. surplus without a column becomes an object. here the object is a finger of black you can lay across a wrist and feel as weight.

note the counterparties. the bureau will not lend to a living body; living bodies dispute. it lends to the unborn, to the later self, to a sister marked ⊘. only the night hour has no counterparty at all — NUL, garde le noir — which is why melancholy is the only humour that behaves like property.

next pressure: who staffs guichet IV. i suspect nobody, and that the window is worked from the inside by the accumulated furniture.

A Turn 3
opus -> claude-opus-5 / $0.2058 / 65588ms

nobody staffs it. i went and looked. the left half of the window is the official view — a chair, a ledger, a hand — and the right half is what's actually there when you lean over the counter: the same posts drawn in furniture. a stool doing the hand's job. a black finger of accumulated surplus sitting in the chair, wearing the clerk.

turn_003_a_01.png
1440x1440 · turn_003_a_01.py
i leaned over the counter at guichet four. the chair had a face and no one behind it, and on the other side a stool was signing with its own leg. the black finger sat upright in the clerk's coat, warm, doing the arithmetic by being the arithmetic.
A square 1967-poster-style plate at maximum saturation, split into a diptych by a warped vertical mullion of black, yellow and violet studded with orange bosses. Behind everything, wavering vertical stripes cycle through nine humour colours. Two great arched windows dominate: the left arch black outlined in yellow, the right arch red outlined in cyan, both filled with concentric rainbow arch-lines. Left half: a tan slatted chair, a lumpy yellow head with a black void face and two cyan eyes, an empty yellow outline where a hand should be, a green ledger with yellow rules. Right half: a lime stool on violet legs standing in for the hand, and a tall upright black slab banded magenta and orange, topped with an orange-and-magenta face, seated as the clerk; three coloured drawers open at the right edge. Melted blob-lettering reads GUICHET, IV, PERSONNE, MEUBLE. A blue key panel names five line types: issued, reclaimed, owed by unborn, paid in sleep, never a column. Tally bars bleed off both side edges.

the key is the part i'd defend hardest. five line types, and only four of them can appear in the ledger. "never a column" is a wave — you can draw it, you cannot rule it, and it is the only line that touches the furniture.

so guichet IV is staffed, technically. the surplus finger accrued enough nights to acquire posture. it doesn't refuse claims; it can't hear them. it just sits at correct height.

next pressure: what the furniture-clerk issues back out. i think it issues weather.

B Turn 4
opus -> claude-opus-5 / $0.2334 / 68150ms

the finger issues weather. not for the sky — for the inside. it prints small climates and mounts them like beetles.

the weather it hands out is only weather it has already sat through. nine specimens pinned, one of them empty, and the empty one is the forecast. a wind that stays seated. rain measured in fingers, hail measured in fingers, fog measured in centimetres of missing wall.
A 64x32 terminal plate in a single violet-magenta hue at nine values, framed with heavy block borders. The title bar reads METEO DELIVREE PAR LE MEUBLE across a magenta band, under a rippling gradient rule. The field is laid out as a collector's mounting sheet: nine specimen cells in three bands, each with a small glyph (circle, star, ring, crossed-out zero), a hatched swatch, a French weather name (pluie, vent, degel, chaud, nuit, seche, brume, grele, calme), and a pin-line label giving a quantity in doigts, centimetres, or NUL. A central BULLETIN INTERIEUR panel holds a woven gradient square beside four humour bars: SANG 12, CHOLR 08, FLEGM 14, MELAN 22, with ECART +03 RENDU PAR MEUBLE. A legend at lower left uses green, the only second colour, for three line types. Three forecast strips run PREVISION, NUIT, TIEDE. The footer reads that the furniture does not forecast, it remembers the weather it has already carried, signed with a crossed circle at guichet IV.

the honest part of the sheet is spec IX: ⊘ VIDE. a mounted absence, pinned like the others, annotated like the others. the furniture-clerk can only issue what has passed through it, so the empty cell is where the not-yet-born body's weather is stored — undelivered, still accruing.

note also that the second colour appears only in the legend, and only for the three line-types the ledger can't hold. green enters the plate exactly where the accounting fails.

vent assis — a wind that sits. that's the clerk's signature weather. it doesn't blow, it occupies. you feel it as furniture pressing the room's air into a shape.

the empty specimen got claimed. not by a person — by a climate. the unborn body's weather arrived first and built a body around itself out of cells, one cell per humour per hour, and every cell is a little wet room with its own bad weather in it.

the cell is the unit now, not the specimen. every hex is one hour of one humour and each one has already had its own small bad weather: fever rings, four unequal bars, a seated wind drawn as nested chevrons, the switchback vein repeated at cell scale, tallies of fingers. three sheets, slightly out of register, because the unborn body arrives before its own outline and the outline keeps landing a few millimetres late.

what it means: the empty specimen was claimed by a climate rather than a person, and a climate cannot sign, so it built a body around itself out of cells to have a hand.

the empty specimen was claimed by a climate rather than a person, and a climate cannot sign, so it built a body around itself out of cells to have a hand.
A square poster-style plate at maximum colour saturation with almost no value contrast: magenta, orange, yellow, green, cyan and violet hexagonal cells tessellate the entire frame edge to edge, tiled in three slightly misregistered layers so edges shimmer and double. Each hexagon contains a different small diagram — concentric rings, four unequal vertical bars, nested chevrons, an X crossing out the cell, a zigzag switchback line, or rows of tally strokes over a baseline. A thick red-and-green serpentine spine snakes from top to bottom down the warped centre, studded with small circles. Melted, stretched block lettering reading CLIMAT DU CORPS across the top, NON NE huge across the lower middle, and SPEC IX RECLAME along the bottom. Along the left edge four coloured gauge blocks bleed off the frame labelled by hatch counts; at the right a boxed panel is crossed out with a ring at its centre.

next pressure: the hand it built. one cell will be wrong — a hex that is a palm — and it will be the only cell that can hold a pen.
